Newpoint Offshore, Inc. specializes in the engineering and design of Gas Pretreatment Systems for marine applications. Offshore’s sister company, Newpoint Gas, LP (www.newpointgas.com), is the World’s leading provider of Amine Treating Facilities and specializes in every phase of the removal of contaminates found in natural gas.
Typical Gas Pretreatment Processes
Amine Treating - Reduces CO2 and H2S, to less than 50 ppmv and 4 ppmv, respectively.
Membrane Systems - Bulk CO2 removal, for high inlet concentrations (>10%).
Mercury Removal - Removed to protect equipment.
Gas Dehydration - Reduces water content to less than 1 ppmv.

Proven Process Designs
Process Guarantee:  Newpoint is developing technologies with industry leaders that will provide the security of a process guarantee. While the cost of gas pretreatment is small in comparison to the entire FLNG/FPSO facility — it is vital for system operation. In a typical pretreatment system, rough sea conditions will normally result in a degradation in performance requiring the entire facility to be shut down. However, Newpoint’s design is the result of testing in a floating environment and treating experience ensuring continued operation and success in the FLNG/ FPSO markets.
Testing - 3 Degree of Freedom (Patent Pending)
The test system simulates the motions of heave, roll and pitch. Each motion is independently controlled by three separate input signals. These signals can be as simple as a sinusoid or data from a vessel. As shown, six hydraulic cylinders are employed to provide 3 degrees of freedom. Roll and pitch are recreated using two hydraulic cylinders each. Yaw and lateral motions are not compensated due to their lack of impact on the process.
Maximum Tilt Angle - Roll and Pitch 7.8 7.8º / 0.136 rad
Minimum Period – Roll, Pitch, Heave 10 Seconds

FVSF Technology (Patent Pending)
Floating Vessel Stable Fluid
FVSF Technology: Utilizing Newpoint’s FVSF (Floating Vessel Stable Fluid) system eliminates the need to “over design” a facility, saving vital space and weight. This technology enables Newpoint to guarantee the performance of gas pretreatment facilities.
Newpoint Flex Fit Gas Pretreatment Leasing
The FLNG market presents unique challenges for gas pretreatment. One of the biggest advantages of FLNG systems is that they can be moved to various locations. Unfortunately, as these facilities are moved to different locations, the inlet gas composition changes. Even small changes in gas composition can greatly impact the pretreatment system requirements. Newpoint Offshore has developed a program called “Flex Fit”. Flex Fit is designed to give customers the option of leasing and installing only the equipment required for a specific gas composition. Newpoint Offshore has the ability to customize the pretreatment systems as locations change. Customers will not be required to install equipment that is not needed or add capacity to pretreatment equipment that will not be utilized.
